Short DIY Trip to Prague Czech Republic
It was during a holiday in Dubai when I decided to visit Europe particularly, Prague. This is my first trip to Europe and I chose Prague as it has laid-back feels which for me is perfect. I only had 3 days and 2 nights here due to very a limited time. This Prague travel is a backpacking trip.
From Dubai, I took an Aeroflot flight to Prague. Food was great and the landing at the Prague Airport was just smooth. My co-passengers even clapped, haha!
Prague is one of the places you can visit inside Europe where everything is relatively cheap. It offers visitors an experience of its century long history ambiance through its architectures. From palaces to churches to parks and squares. Prague is also known for its good wines and local Prague beers. The architectures, cobble-stoned alleys and roads, artistic buildings and the color of Prague just made it one of my favorite places.
For this trip I was able to do the following:
- Free Walking Tour – Checked out Prague Castle, Petrin Park, John Lennon Wall, Wenceslas Square. Talk to your hostel or hotel staff and book a Free Walking Tour if they have.
- Old Town Square – Just walking distance from the hostel. Hangout there with friends with a local beer, watch magicians and musicians, check out the Astronomical Clock, visit the Churches and explore catacombs.
- Powder Tower – The medieval tower, one of the old city gates constructed in the 1400s.
- Streets of Prague – Prague is just a lovely laid-back city where you can just hang around and watch as people go by while having good food and a local beer.
Started the day just strolling around area in search for a brunch. We had a nice pasta from one of the restaurants along the way, which the name I already forgot.
View of the Charle’s Bridge in Prague from where I had a glass of beer and little walk from Old Town Square.
Some more photos:
Prague’s Old Town is my favorite place to just hangout and chill. There are a number of restaurants, food stalls, variety of shops around the area and churches.
The Astronomical Clock is one of the oldest but still functioning astronomical clocks in the world.
Charles Bridge connects 2 sides of Prague over the Vltava River. It is crowded during day time with several vendors and tourists flocking in on the bridge.
Inside the tram on the way to the Petrin Lookout Tower for an amazing view of Prague.
On the way, we see small shops that sell these candies.
Just a quick photo while walking towards the Petrin Tower.
Somewhere along the way..
The Petrin Lookout Tower 🙂
But, before you get there, you need to ride one of these uphill trains. And when you get to the tower, you have the choice to either pay for the lift to the top or take the stairs for free. I paid.
Hello Prague! It is so nice to see you from above. ( I want to go back now)
I spent sometime there looking at the amazing view of this beautiful city and then head home to my hostel (Hostel Ananas) which is in the centre of the busy Wenceslas Square. I chose to stay in that hostel as it has metro access and it is near the center. Aside from that, they are rated 8.6 on Booking.com. Their restrooms, facilities, rooms and lounge area are all clean and staff are nice and friendly. They also have free walking tour for all guests. So nice, yeah?
Here are some of the photos of the hostel grabbed from their website:
For the second night, I stayed in Hotel Adler. I got a big penthouse room and it is near the metro station.
Let me share some of my photos at night. The fact is that when you are having a real good time, either you forget to take pictures or you take very less pictures. I had so much real fun, I forgot about taking lots of photos for remembrance.
Photo taken a few walks from our hotel..
So quiet and peaceful Prague at night.
Ended the night with some good wine in a good resto with good food and a good company.
As much as I wanted to stay a bit longer in Prague, I just couldn’t as my employers in Dubai were waiting for me, haha! I hope to get a month long visit to Europe next time.
Below are some of the other things you can do while in Prague:
- Check out the Jewish Quarter
- Visit the Letenske Sady or the Letna Park
- Take an underground Prague Tour
- Trip to Kutna Hora
- Enjoy Vysehrad Castles
- Prague Beer Museum
Thank you for dropping by my post and happy travels to you!
Beautiful! 😀
Thanks! 🙂
